Sample Searches

Basic Search

You are researching a company: IDEO.  By entering this term in the basic search box, you will receive the entire list of results typically sorted by relevancy.  (And it may be searching all fields or everything BUT full-text depending on your organization's default search settings).

From the list of results, you can sort by date (ascending or descending) as well as narrow by the following filters:

  • Peer reviewed
  • Scholarly journal or other source types
  • Source type
  • Publication date range
  • Publication titles
  • Document types
  • Subject/artist
  • Language (of original publication)

NOTE:  also with a company search, you can click on the small i next to a company name in the Abstract/Details results and be linked to Hoover's if your organization subscribes to that content as well.

Advanced Search

You need to find sources specifically written about the concept of design thinking.  You have several choices to immediately narrow a search.

Using the Advanced Search form, choose to search for design thinking with one of the following dropdown field codes:

  • Document title (TI) or
  • Abstract (AB)

If you then want to narrow your search to design thinking only in articles, you can narrow from the document type if the middle of the search form. From the results, you can narrow as you would for a Basic Search
