Using the Basic search form, EBD and other materials are searched using full text.  EBD searchable fields

From the Advanced search from, specific fields may be selected for searching:

  • All fields except full text,
  • all fields including full text
  • Subject
  • Non-Congressional source
  • Title

Note:  if you select multiple document types, more fields will display on the pulldown, but only the fields shown here will search the Executive Branch Documents.

The Search-By-Number form allows users to search using the SuDoc number, or the accession number.

Search Results

EBD Results Search results will have the search term highlighted and show the title, date, SuDoc, issuing agency and the permalink in the top section.

Farther down are the subject terms/descriptors.

If the publication retrieved is part of a larger series, then that information will be displayed, as well.  If the user clicks on the (hyperlinked) accession number, the rest of the publications in the series will be retrieved.

If the series has some of the publications in the series published in the Serial Set, information, with a link, will display to that effect (see below).

A link to the PDF (the publication) is included, as well (not shown here).

Emailing, Printing etc.

saving, emailing etc.On the right of each of the individual records, there are 6 options - downloading, emailing, printing, permalink, share, and add to selected items.

  • The Download PDF button allows users to download the entire PDF, or 50-page chunks.
  • The Email button will email the record you are viewing, along with a link back to the record.  (It will not email the attached document - some of the documents are quite large so email systems might reject them.)
  • The Print button will print the record you are viewing.  (It will not print the PDF - some of the documents are quite large).
  • The Permalink button will either allow you to copy the link, or to open the document in a new tab.
  • The Share button will allow you to share information about this document through a variety of social media outlets.
  • The checkbox Add to selected items will add the document to the list of selected items.  You can get to the list by clicking on the file folder in the upper right corner of your browser.

Underneath the various options you'll see Related News with approximately ten newspaper articles related to the document you are viewing.  The papers shown are those subscribed to/purchased by your institution.   For more on how those articles are selected, click here

For users with the ProQuest Serial Set Digital Collection

Links to Serial Set ContentUsers who also have the ProQuest Serial Set Digital Collection will notice information in the Summary field providing links to other documents within the same series, or related documents.

Users whose holdings don't include this, should see the information without the hyperlinks.
