What is Humanities Index?

Humanities Index is an international abstracting and indexing tool for research in the humanities, covering almost 400 internationally respected humanities journals and weekly magazines published in the UK and other English speaking countries, as well as quality newspapers published in the UK. Regular monthly updates ensure subscribers can retrieve the latest material on a wide range of arts and humanities subjects, aided by a completely interactive thesaurus and the capability to link to electronic full text of many journal articles. Humanities Index reflects the interdisciplinary nature of humanities research; allowing end users to find relevant articles in adjacent subject areas. It is also useful for researchers into the history of various subjects which are not themselves humanities, for instance it includes journals on the histories of science, gardens, medicine and other topics.Humanities Index is also strong in the field of British regional history, reflecting its origins as a British oriented product.

Selection Policy

Humanities Index includes internationally respected journals, magazines and newspapers. The majority are from academic publishers and learned and professional societies or associations. Quality UK newspapers and several weekly publications are covered selectively.
