Included within our Education in Video Series, Vol. I, and freely available to all libraries in the United Kingdom, is the complete run of Teachers TV. Created by the United Kingdom’s Department of Education in 2008, Teachers TV features more than 3,800 concise instructional videos featuring engaging and practical in-classroom demonstrations and commentary from teachers, administrators and other educational experts. Key topics covered include teaching global issues and citizenship, behaviour issues, assessment, administration techniques, social issues, ICT (information and communications technology), and special education. As well as a fully-featured media player providing unlimited simultaneous use, and accessible via mobile devices, the following services are provided free of charge: MARC records; COUNTER-4 usage stats – via an Admin Portal accessed by administrators; Synchronous transcripts (translatable into 80 languages) which are being added on an ongoing basis until completed. The resources are also discoverable via Primo and Summon.
Every student of education knows that reading about education theory in the abstract is a dramatically different experience than applying that knowledge in the classroom.
