Researching a Country: About your Search

How to research a country using ProQuest Statistical Insight and ProQuest Statistical Datasets

Why look for data on a country?

There are many reasons to be looking for information about a specific country or group of countries.  Maybe it's a class assignment and  you need all kinds of data about a country, maybe you're looking at trade (import or export) opportunities, or maybe you're trying to find out about a group of countries.

This guide will walk you through a few easy searches in Statistical Insight to find the data you need.

What are you looking for?

As you are working through this guide, think about:

  • What do you want to know about your country?  Is it economic information?  Infrastructure?  Population and other demographics?
  • How much do you need?  A few quick statistics, an in-depth review?
  • What type of content do you want – from what sources?

Thinking about these questions, both before and while you are searching, will keep you focused on a good result set.
