Sanborn Maps were originally published in color, yet the digital maps are displayed in black and white because the digital maps were created by scanning microfilm. Because the original maps were filmed in black and white, the digital images are also in black and white. Due to this source, color images cannot be made available and a map legend has been specifically created for the black and white images.

*This is a complete list of available state maps. Your institution's access agreements with ProQuest may not include all states.
Browse ProQuest Sanborn Maps Geo Edition by clicking either the Browse tab at the top of the page or clicking the "Browse to a location" link on the Home tab. Both will redirect you to a state and city list of available locations. Select the state or city of interest to see a list of available maps. If you choose a state, such as California, a window will appear in the center of the page with two options: Counties and Cities (see below).
Next, select either a county or city from the list. You may navigate within these list by using the scrolling bar or the A-Z list at the top of each box. If you select a county, such as Suffolk county, the Cities list will refresh and display only cities within that county. When you select a city, such as Boston, a modern Google map of that city will appear. Use the Visual Browse to click within the Google map or access the list of all available locations by clicking the link "See all Boston, Massachusetts atlases" beneath the map viewer (see below).
From the date organized list, select the map of interest by clicking the title. Thumbnail images will appear of all the Sanborn Map sheets associated with that year and volume. You may see more than 50 sheets for certain cities, so keep scrolling down to find the image that you require. (See following two images)
