U.S. Serial Set Digital Collection: Searching the Serial Set

About the Serial Set in ProQuest Congressional

Users can search the Serial Set (and any other materials subscribed to or purchased) through the Basic Search, the Advanced Search and the Search by Number forms. 

Notes: 

  •  The House & Senate Documents and the House & Senate Reports, both part of the Serial Set, are listed together on the Advanced Search form.  
  • The House and Senate Journals are now search through the Miscellaneous Publications content type.  (Check out our House and Senate Journals guide for more information on this important content).
  • The American State Papers, predecessor to the Serial Set, is searched through the Miscellaneous Publications content type.

Searching using a keyword across all publication types to see what kinds of materials are available.

The type-ahead feature shows you subject terms in the database.

To search using index terms, click on Find Terms.  Find terms

 

 

 

The Serial Set has several quite useful indexes including Congressional Committees, Federal Agencies, and subject and geographic terms.

The Advanced Search form allows you to search particular fields in the metadata (indexing) for more precise results. 

When you select only one document type (as shown here for the House and Senate Reports/Documents), only the fields that apply to that document type are shown.
