The new Wait List means you will be able to place a hold for titles in use.
Being able to place a hold is dependent upon your library/institution activating the Wait List feature.
Profile settings
You must have provided a Wait List email in order to place a hold on a title. To enter a Wait List email, go to Settings (on the top right corner of the screen) and select Profile. Enter an email address in the Wait List field.
Book details page
On the book details page, you will see the availability of the title. If the title is “In Use” you will see the option to place a hold. You can also see how many other people are currently on the wait list.
Place hold
Click on Place Hold. If you are not currently logged in, you will be prompted to do so. A popup window will display asking you to confirm your Wait List email. If you need to change it, click on the Profile link, or continue to confirm the hold by clicking on Place Hold. If you do not have a Wait List email in your profile, you will be prompted to visit your profile to enter one.
Hold placed
Once you’ve confirmed the hold, the status/availability of the title will show “Hold Placed”.
Cancel hold
To cancel a hold, click on Cancel Hold. Click on confirm in the popup window.
Notification email
When your hold becomes available you will be sent a notification email. The amount of time you have to claim your hold is dependent upon what your institution has selected as the hold time. This can range anywhere from 1 hour to 10 days.
Bookshelf
Please note that The Holds folder will only be displayed if a library has enabled the Wait List feature in LibCentral.
In order to see your active holds, you’ll need to go to your Bookshelf.
From the Holds folder you can see what you currently have on hold and which holds are available.
Read or download
From the book details page page you now download the book or read it online.
You can also cancel the hold from here if you no longer need access to the title.
If you download the ebook, the item will move from your Holds folder to your Downloads & Loans folder in your bookshelf.
