Ebook Central News

Ebook Central Reader App
The new Ebook Central reader App will be launched in June 2025. We invite you to read our FAQs and attend an upcoming information session with the product team. During this session, we will preview the app, share rollout guidance, and address key considerations for implementation.

Ebook Central Research Assistant
The Ebook Central Research Assistant is officially live, offering students enhanced research support powered by responsibly developed AI. It’s automatically enabled and included at no additional cost for owned and subscribed titles with the option to opt-out via System Settings. Please see our FAQ article and join our info session and platform demo (including recordings) to learn more! For a short demo covering the essentials, please see The Ebook Central Research Assistant - information for librarians.

Changes to Ebook Central’s online reader
Starting May 1, 2025, the Ebook Central platform will prioritize EPUBs, making EPUB the default display format in the online reader instead of PDF. This EPUB Preferred initiative is part of our ongoing commitment to create a more accessible, user-friendly experience on the platform. Learn more about this upcoming change in our FAQ article and join us for an info session (including recordings) for admins and librarians. If needed, please also see How do I update a page-specific link that is not resolving correctly after the change to EPUB Preferred?

ProQuest Books Evolution in 2025
Clarivate has announced a subscription-based access strategy for academia. At the same time, we are committed to preserving access to libraries’ owned content on the platform and will continue to invest in and develop Ebook Central. Learn more about what this means for Books products and services by reading our blog post: A Closer Look At: Ebook Central’s User-Focused Roadmap. Please also see the ProQuest Books Evolution in 2025 Customer Resource Guide.
